After years of retirement, the iconic "La Atrevida" has returned to the track, setting a new personal best and reigniting the passion of import drag racing fans. With a new owner, mechanic, tuner, and FuelTech engine management system, La Atrevida has quickly reclaimed its place in the spotlight. Once known as the "Princess" of import drag racing, the car was renowned for being ahead of its time. Its shoebox-style 1981 Toyota Starlet build and ground-breaking Mazda 13B rotary engine helped it earn a reputation as a true trailblazer in the sport.
In 2013, the beloved La Atrevida reemerged with a fierce new setup. Now powered by a turbocharged, methanol-fueled 13B rotary engine, fully controlled by FuelTech's advanced electronics, the car has rapidly achieved astonishing results after only a few weeks of testing. With support from FuelTech’s ECU and technical team, La Atrevida recently clocked a personal best of 7.31 seconds at 194 mph—an incredible feat for the storied Starlet and a milestone for the team.
FuelTech’s precision control and La Atrevida’s unmatched design are proving to be a perfect match, paving the way for an impressive comeback season. Congratulations to the entire team for their hard work and dedication in bringing back this legendary vehicle to the competitive scene, faster and more daring than ever.
Welcome back, La Atrevida!
